We've been meaning to give a mention to Photobox for a while now. They're our top choice for getting digital snaps printed out and returned to us by post (we dig no queuing at the photo shop and for that matter, not even having to find a photo shop). Lately they told us about their invitation card service and invited us to give them ago. Now, we're not getting married so we cheated a little and whipped up some super swish birthday invites instead but the process is the same.
These invitation cards are ideal if you want to use your own photography to create bespoke save the dates or slightly informal invitations to day or evenning events. Start off by choosing from two shapes, a 21.1x10.6cm panoramic or 14.7x14.7cm square. Each style has a number of templates to pick from so you can use a single photo or several to make up a card plus there's the option to add text to the front and back.
We like the idea of the panoramic cards and the slimvites for save the dates or even as photo keepsake honeymoon/thank you postcards.
We selected the square card option and opted for a oloured scheme though did think the simple black and white options were rather elegant. Once you've whittled down your theme, the templates pop up (see four of them, right) and you can choose where to place your photography - which is drawn from your Photobox albums using the 'get photos' button on the left of the screen - and text if you want it. You don't have to get it right first time either - just play about with the options until you hit on the right combination.
The next page is where you add your text. It's completely blank so you could print anything from a mere 'Save the date' to day/evening details. Whilst you can change the font size, there are only four fonts to choose from and we'd rather have had more options. You can also pick from 14 font colours and choose whether to centre, left or right align the text. As before, you can change the text as often as you like until you're ready.
We ordered ours and were impressed that they arrived a couple of days later in a smart little folder to keep them from bending. They also had a good quality gloss finish and our text was exactly as specified. So far, our guests have really liked them so we know we'll use these credit-crunching besopke photo invites in the future for other events.
Prices are reasonable too - £9.99 gets you a pack of ten, for 5 packs of 10+ the price dips to £8.99 per pack then for 20 packs of 10 plus it goes to £7.99 per pack plus there's a small charge for postage. Check out the range for yourself here.
